Android Vs iPhone, Which One Is Better for Medical Mobile App Development?

The war between Android and iPhone, the two major mobile app development giants, is never going to stop. Both are one of the most preferred mobile operating systems and therefore, each is trying hard to beat another in terms of number of users and apps developed. There is no doubt that both platforms are powerful, but they too suffer from certain drawbacks when it comes to developing medical apps.

In this post, we will see both plus and minus points of Android and iPhone from the viewpoint of medical apps developers.

• Operating System

Both the mobile platforms are based on the UNIX, but the UI could be quite problematic at this point. However, Apple’s proven and hard-hitting marketing and promotional strategies have portrayed the iPhone as the ultimate Smartphone device for both the mobile app developers and the end users regardless of its defects.

Conversely, Android faced lots of struggle before it had a great success. Today, Android is renowned for its scalability and versatility, while Apple has more developers as compared to the former.

• Device compatibility

In terms of device compatibility, Apple offers more flexibility as the developers have to deal with only one platform. It makes it easier for them to develop medical apps without facing any major compatibility issue. Moreover, testing of the medical apps becomes easier due to very less OS version to deal with.

On the other hand, Android offers a wide range of devices, which makes it difficult to develop a single app that runs smoothly on all the mobile devices. The issues are more critical when it comes to medical apps as they may work perfectly on one device, but not on others. However, if we think positive, Android is not limited to just one device, which could be beneficial for the enterprise solutions.

• Don’t overlook hardware issues!

Android wins the battle in terms of hardware issues as there is a wide range of devices supported by it. It is possible to solve hardware issues in devices or you can switch to other device manufacturers.

On the other hand, Apple is the only iPhone manufacturer that makes it difficult to get rid of hardware issues and causes serious issues for the medical apps.

Both Android and iPhone are powerful platforms with a few pros and cons. However, while developing medical apps, developers should first analyze all the related issues to fetch better results.
